Going home is no vacation.
"What would Bad Boys have been without Martin Lawrence? One thing’s for sure, it wouldn’t have been as good a film. As great as Will Smith is, he could not have carried that thing without his side-splitting co-star. Lawrence is a riot - he’ll have you in stitches. In that film alone, he delivered nearly all of the great, chuckle-inducing lines. Whilst Smith shot off his gun, Lawrence shot off his mouth – and we laughed all the way home. Remember? We need to remember, and probably the only reason we do sometimes forget how good Lawrence was in Bad Boys – and all the other great comedies he’s done, like Big Momma’s House and Blue Streak – is because he was standing next to Smith, arguably the better-looking, more magazine-friendly of the two. Smith and Lawrence have taken different routes as far as their careers are concerned, but both have ended up in the same place – making good, solid movies. The former is one of the biggest movie stars in the world, being paid millions of dollars to front blockbusters like Hancock and I Am Legend, whilst Lawrence is someone who seemingly shies away from big blockbusters, quite content in doing good ol’ wholesome comedies. But big bucks and box office doesn’t always make the man… or the movie… case in point, the sensational, gut-busting Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins, one of the funniest films you’ll see this year – even though you might not have heard about it until now. Lawrence is brilliant as talk show sensation RJ Stevens, a man who left behind his modest Southern upbringing and family name to transform into a self-help guru dispensing his ""Team of Me"" philosophy to millions of adoring fans. With a reality TV star fiancée and money to burn, there's no piece of the Hollywood dream RJ hasn’t achieved. After his parents request that he come home for their 50th wedding anniversary, the TV host packs his bags, but later wishes he hadn’t! Lawrence is aptly supported by a great cast, including the legendary James Earl Jones (Coming to America) and the beautiful Nicole Ari Parker (Brown Sugar), but as we’ve stated above, nobody’s quite as good, or as funny, as Martin Lawrence himself! Roscoe Jenkins is a very funny film, with a very sweet tail-end message. Sit back, enjoy and get ready to laugh yourself silly! "
