Play as a man in a diving suit with a giant drill for a hand called a Big Daddy. Your mission is to escape the city with the help of various people and find your “little sister” – a girl who extracts genetically modified DNA or ADAM from the dead.
Buying plasmids allows you to acquire special abilities such as shooting fire from your hand or moving objects with telekinesis. The rivet gun and spear gun that shoots rockets into enemies making them run and explode like deflated balloons is excellent. You can now dual wield a plasmid in one hand and a weapon in another rather than having to swap in-between. Plasmids can also be laid as ground traps to launch enemies like a cannon or used to incinerate them on the spot.
Shoot your hacking tool at gun turrets and use them for your advantage. Hacking is easier than before by pushing a directed button when a needle appears in coloured zones.
Your newly acquired diving suit allows you to walk outside the city along the ocean floor creating a nice calm contrast to the chaos inside Rapture.
Multiplayer is also available where players assume the role of plasmid testers running around killing each other in order to gain ADAM in exchange for plasmid upgrades for your chosen splicer character.
