There were many things to note about the ’80s. There was big hair, Ronald Reagan and bad fashion. It gave a lot. But nothing was bigger than Ghostbusters. With brainy publishers keen to tap into the stream of nostalgia Generation X and Y gamers have for the ghoul-zappers, it was inevitable that Ghostbusters would zoom down from the supernatural plane in the form of a next-generation videogame. Now it’s here!
Ghostbusters: The Video Game is like franchised fast food, in that it’s exactly as expected. Players take on the role of a new Ghostbusters recruit who’s thrown into the hot spectral pot to learn the tricks of the trade. Hordes of nasty ghouls have done the runner from the Ghostbusters slammer, forcing the team to go back and recapture some of their most infamous targets. From glowing green blob, Slimer, to the massive Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, many of the levels centre on re-enacting seminal scenes from both films.
But what does it play like? By and large it’s a third-person romp, though when hunting ghosts players can slip into a first-person view whilst toying with the spooky PKE Meter. In general though, players stay transfixed on the rear of each ‘buster as they fire their proton accelerators at spooks and use a fishing-rod type of action to rein them over an open bogeyman trap.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game is also an authentic piece of paraphernalia, featuring a story by Dan Aykroyd and the voice acting talents of all the original Ghostbusters – including Bill Murray!

#1 Whip It |
|
Drew Barrymore's directorial debut is a classic coming-of-age story... on roller skates. No, it's not back to Xanadu, but into the high-impact world of girls' roller derby, where Bliss Cavendar (Ellen Page) finds herself transformed into Babe Ruthless. |

#1 Rogue Warrior |
|
Rogue Warrior’s Dick is harder than a coffin nail. We know this statement to be true because we’ve played it, a shooter based upon the exploits of Mr Richard ‘Dick’ Marcinko – a real life, ex-Navy SEAL legend. |
